At Mr. Meow's Thursday vet appointment to check his lump (which was nothing, just a reaction to his rabies shot. Phew!), I also touched based with the vet about Murphy's hurt paw. (He's still limping.) Healing Takes Time We know it's not broken, because x-rays confirmed that.

The other night Inside Edition ran a story about one of the pit bulls rescued from Michael Vick's dog fighting ring. His name is Leo, and he now lives in California with his new owner, Marthina McClay, who's a member of Our Pack, a pit bull rescue organization.

The brochure I picked up for Chase Away K9 Cancer was chock full of interesting information. There were a lot of facts about canine cancer that I wanted to share. Veterinary experts estimate that as many as one out of every three dogs will get some form of cancer.

The last time I was at the vet, I grabbed a flyer for Chase Away K9 Cancer -- an effort by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine inspired by one special dog. Chase was a black Lab who had made quite a name for herself in the hunting and dock jumping arenas.

My two dogs have very different personalities. Moose (my eight year old shepherd mix) is very easygoing. He loves just about everyone, and would happily follow a stranger home if he thought there would be snacks or petting or both.

A friend of mine recently fostered a dog who was suffering from parvo. With vet treatment, the dog survived and has gone on to a forever home... but my friend is now worried about future fosters.
