Greatest American Dog: Further Criticisms about the Show

One of the reality TV shows I ended up enjoying the most was Kid Nation. I wish the Greatest American Dog had a format more like that. Why I Liked Kid Nation I was not expecting to like the show. A bunch of kids forming their own society? Um, yeah, I couldn’t see how that’d be interesting. So I didn’t watch. But Wayne did. He DVRd the first episode and was raving so much about it curiosity won out. I watched and fell in love with those kids. It was hard not to be impressed by so many of them. … Continue reading

The Pets Blog Week in Review for Oct 15-21

October’s speeding along at a frightfully fast pace. Before you know it Halloween will be here. If you’re having a heck of a time keeping up on everything, including the Pets Blog, let me be of some assistance with this week’s Week in Review. Here’s what Aimee and I covered on: Monday, October 15 Aimee’s been doing a good job covering all things fish this month. Today’s installment was More Common Freshwater Diseases. A Report on the Dog Days Festival

It was big doings for dogs in Nashville this weekend. It was the annual Dog Days Festival at Centennial Park, which celebrated Adopt a Shelter Dog Month and benefited the Nashville Humane Association. Of course we took Murphy. And I’m kicking myself because I forgot my camera. (Better to forget that than to forget Murph, though!) There was tons to take pictures of. I’ll try my best to paint the scene with words. Who let the dogs out? Price of admission was $5 per person (dogs got in free). The “festival grounds” was a frenzy of four-legged furry friends and … Continue reading

Mariah Carey’s Engagement Ring is Bigger Than Carmen Electra’s

And there’s a reason for that… I’ll explain in a bit, but first I should note that Mariah Carey has yet to officially confirm that the gigantumongous rock on her left ring finger is in fact an engagement ring. It is. However, the pop diva did confirm that the ring was a gift from her “good friend” (see: fiancé) Nick Cannon. The pair was snapped snuggling up to each at the afterparty for her new film, Tennessee, on Saturday night. The cuddlefest reportedly started earlier that night at the Tribeca Film Festival where the world got a look at the … Continue reading

Steve Fossett Still Missing

Steve Fossett, the U.S. millionaire adventurer who made record-breaking solo flights around the world by plane and balloon, and the man I had the chance to interview a few years ago, is still missing tonight. According to news reports, Fossett was last seen Monday morning taking off in a small plane from a ranch in Nevada. Today, more than a dozen planes spent hours searching rough, mountainous terrain for any sign of Fossett and his missing single-engine aircraft. British entrepreneur Richard Branson told reporters Fossett planned the flight to scout dry lakebeds as locations for a future attempt to set … Continue reading
