This is it…the last Pets Blog Week in Review for 2007. Because Christmas was last week, perhaps family duties and celebrations kept you from enjoying all the blogs Aimee and I brought you. Enter stage right: the Week in Review…your handy week-at-a-glance way of keeping up on things without missing a beat. A Terrible Month for Tigers

Photo By Marieke Kuijpers Two Siberian tigers killed in less than a week at two different zoos…what the heck’s going on here? There’s only like 400 in the world as it is. Like mountain gorillas, they’re on the severely endangered list. So why have two purposely been killed recently? Let’s take a look. The Slaughter in China Leads to Discoveries of Tiger Neglect On Thursday December 20th a female Siberian tiger was found beheaded and skinned at the Three Gorges Forest Wild Animal World in a province of Yichang City, China. Tiger-Sniffing Dogs Go to Work in Cambodia

As recently as a hundred years ago, Asia had a tiger population numbering around one hundred thousand. These days, there may be as few as five thousand tigers in the wild. Researchers are hoping to find signs of a tiger presence in one of Cambodia’s largest nature reserves — Seima Biodiversity Conservation Area. Now it’s time for Cambodia to turn to the dogs for help. … Continue reading

This time she is encouraging animal lovers to follow her lead and rummage through their homes, sell unwanted items, and give the money to PETA. The actress turned magician’s helper recently held a huge estate sale at her … Continue reading

Frightening 911 Tiger Call

When I wrote A Terrible Month for Tigers at the end of last month I really didn’t know what to make of the tiger escaping from its enclosure at the San Francisco Zoo. I hated to think the zoo was at fault, and was inclined to believe they weren’t. I mean, zoos go to a lot of trouble to make sure those enclosures are safe. Not just to protect zoo goers but to keep the animals safe too. But I also didn’t want to think the men who were attacked had taunted the tiger to the point it was hell … Continue reading
