Foofy’s Big Adventure

A few nights ago, my aunt and uncle found a miniature poodle wandering through their backyard. The little black dog came running right up to them when they called, and was wearing a collar and ID tags. My uncle tried the phone number on the tags, but there was no answer. It was late at night, so they set up a nest in the garage for Foofy the poodle. The next day, they called again. No answer. My uncle is a pretty web-savvy guy, so he looked up the owner’s name and address on the internet. It seemed unbelievable, but … Continue reading

Tabby’s a One Cat Kind of Dog Lover

I’ll never forget the first day Murphy and Tabby met. When I first brought her home it was early on a Friday evening. Both Murph and Mr. Meow crowded around the cardboard carrier I had her in while I went about preparing her room –-or bathroom, I should say. I thought the best place to keep her would be in the guest bath in case she wasn’t litter box trained. I didn’t let them see her then. I thought it best not to overwhelm her right off the bat. But the next morning Murph was insistent upon helping me check … Continue reading

Photo by Simon Stratford How many jokes, surveys, video attachments, and other miscellaneous “fun” stuff do you get in your inbox on a weekly (or maybe even daily) basis? I get tons. Most of it I automatically delete, but some I don’t. In fact, sometimes I even forward them, thus helping to make them “viral.” (In other words, the kind of email that spreads from inbox to inbox.) Here’s a few I’m guilty of spreading: Cute: Big Dog, Little Baby A little while back, Bailey’s “PopPop” forwarded me a picture of a huge black dog laying in a yard on … Continue reading

Can Animal Planet Scare Your Pet?

Are you the kind of pet parent who leaves Animal Planet on when you’re away from home? I have a lot of pet parent friends who do this. It makes sense. Animal Planet…animals are featured…pets should like this. Right? But what if it scares them? A little while back I watched Bailey, a neighbor’s dog, for a day. It wasn’t an overnight thing; all I had to do was stop over for a couple of pee-break visits and such. So she wouldn’t get too lonely in the interim, her mom left Animal Planet on for her. During my last visit … Continue reading
