Diary of a Cat Care B&B: Overnight Entertainment

A paw slips through the gap and taps gently at the door latch. Slowly, the lever lifts and the door springs open! Suddenly, it’s party time at the cats-only boarding facility. Escapes don’t happen all that often, so they’re notable when they do happen. This week, one guest went for a triple escape. When I showed up one morning, there he was, wandering around the main boarding room. He was very neat about his adventure — nothing was spilled or out of place. There was just one weird thing about the first breakout: his door was still closed and latched. … Continue reading

Diary of a Cat Care B&B: Tiny Whirlwind!

It’s time for another wacky adventure from the cats-only boarding facility! I’ve mentioned that the first thing I do in the mornings is clean. There are litter pans to change, bedding to shake out, and walls and floors to wipe. While I was doing my work, one of the guests escaped! It wasn’t a cat I would have expected to make a break for it — she’d been shy and quiet throughout her stay. But the door to her kennel was open and out she went! She led me on a merry chase through the facility. First, she dodged in … Continue reading

Diary of a Cat Care B&B: Abandoned!

I was just thinking the other day how I hadn’t had any blog-worthy adventures at work lately. Today I had one! When we showed up for work this morning, I saw a sight I’d been dreading for the past year and more: a cardboard box and a bag of food with a note attached. Inside the box? A pair of cats who had been abandoned at the vet’s office. The box was blocking the door, so I nudged it out of the way in order to get the door open. But when I went to pick the box up, it … Continue reading

Diary of a Cat Care B&B: More Great Escapes

This has been a month of great escapes at the cats-only boarding facility. The first escape artist — we’ll call her Z — was staying with us for a few weeks while her owner (who was new to the area) looked for an apartment. Z was a tricky cat to begin with, always squirming her way out of our hands when we tried to weigh her. One morning, we came in to find the door of Z’s condo wide open! Panic ensued. We had a full house at the time, and three people scheduled to work that day. All other … Continue reading

Diary of a Cat Care B&B: Great Escapes

Last week at the cats only boarding facility, we had two guests make a break for it within the same day. The first escape artist was a pudgy grey cat named Tee. Miss Tee waited until everybody went home for the night and then snuck out. She managed to squeeze her way out the sliding glass door that separates the main boarding room from the rest of the facility. I can only imagine how Tee entertained herself all night long. Frolicking in the waiting room on the veterinarian side? Exploring the surgery room? Investigating the storage areas? One of the … Continue reading
