Diary of a Cat Care B&B: Tiny Whirlwind!by Aimee Amodio | More from this Blogger 24 Jun 2009 11:08 AM It's time for another wacky adventure from the cats-only boarding facility! I've mentioned that the first thing I do in the mornings is clean. There are litter pans to change, bedding to shake out, and walls and floors to wipe. While I was doing my work, one of the guests escaped! It wasn't a cat I would have expected to make a break for it -- she'd been shy and quiet throughout her stay. But the door to her kennel was open and out she went! She led me on a merry chase through the facility. First, she dodged in and out around the stacks of carriers. Then she darted back into our storage area and climbed the shelves. I almost caught her there, but she jumped over my arm and was off and running again. She almost got cornered again underneath the manager's desk, but snuck past me and into the vet's office. Ah-hah! I had her, then... or so I thought. I closed the door to the office and tried to pick her up. At that moment, seven pounds of calico kitty turned into a whirlwind. She dodged me again and leaped onto the vet's desk, knocking over a stack of magazines. She tried to jump up onto the bookshelf, sending textbooks and manuals flying. She jumped back down onto the desk, knocking over a full cup of water. I finally had to put an empty box over her and slide a piece of cardboard underneath -- kind of the way I catch spiders in cups and release them outside. It's never dull working at the cats-only boarding facility. Our guests are full of surprises -- from the stressed and aggressive cat who turns into a purring, cuddling lap kitty to the quiet little slip of a cat who turns into a destructive hurricane!
