Do Your Pets Have Theme Songs?by Courtney Mroch | More from this Blogger 29 Sep 2007 09:15 AM Mine do. Each of them has a song that reminds me of them when I hear it. In some cases, like Murph's, they even have more than one! Budly's Song: "I Try" Budly was the first pet who got a theme song. Unfortunately it was not while he was alive. Macy Gray released "I Try" shortly before he passed away. I didn't pay attention to it until the day he died. Then I couldn't get it out of my head, because of the following lyrics: "I try to say goodbye and I choke Try to walk away and I stumble Though I try to hide it, it's clear My world crumbles when you are not near" To this day this song brings memories of Budly to my heart and tears to my eyes. I think it always will. Mr. Meow's Song: "Stray Cat Strut" On one of our first visits to the vet, Mr. Meow was hollering and fussing in his carrier like he does...until "Stray Cat Strut" came on the radio. All of a sudden he quieted down as if he wanted to hear the lyrics because he could relate to them. Such as when it says, "I strut right by with my tail in the air" (that's so him!) and "I got cat class and I got cat style." That song fits a lot of cats, I'm sure, and it definitely fits my sassy Mr. Meow. Murphy's Songs: "Ol' Red" and "Get the Party Started" When he was a puppy, Murph was about the most social dog around. He loved the kids in the neighborhood and got so excited when he spotted them outside. He also loved meeting other dogs and playing with them. He especially liked getting rowdy with his best buddy Tucker. One day Wayne was in the office listening to music. Pink's "Get the Party Started" came on at the same time Murph spotted Tucker and his aunt Karen walking by our house. He went bananas trying to get our attention to take him outside. From them on the song stuck as the one we associated with Murph, the good-time party dog who was always ready to go out and get the party started. But earlier this year I heard a song by Blake Shelton called "Ol' Red." It's about a guy who goes to jail and makes friends with the warden. The warden ends up letting the man help take care of his dog, Ol' Red. But the inmate's got a plan. He gets his cousin in Tennessee to ship up a female bluetick coonhound to distract Ol' Red so the inmate can breakout. It has nothing to do with Murph's personality like the other song. It just reminds me of him because they mention a bluetick coonhound. Tabby's Song: "Suddenly I See" The first time I heard KT Tunstall's "Suddenly I See" I thought of who I knew that made me feel like the girl described in the song. Because somebody did. When I got home and Tabby rushed to come see me like she does, I figured it out. From the very first moment I swooped her up in my arms I've benefited from this beautiful little girl's shining inner light. "You can see she's a beautiful girl She's a beautiful girl And everything around her is a silver pool of light The people who surround her feel the benefit of it" So? What's your pets them song?
