Animal Holidays and Observances There Should Be If There Aren’t Already

Last year I was pretty good about tracking the different animal/pet related holidays and observances with articles like Appreciating Elephants (in honor of Elephant Appreciation Day), Have You Hugged Your Sea-Monkeys Today?, Happy World Turtle Day!, and Hug Your Cat Day: Come Here, Tabby and Mr. Meow!. That’s just to name a few. There were more (see the list below for some others, including some Aimee wrote). The past few months I’ve been thinking about the number and variety of holidays and observances I found –and the ones I don’t think exist that have occurred to me since. I decided … Continue reading

Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby: In Pursuit of the Perfect Birthday Card for Papa

Today is Feel the Love Day. It also happens to be Wayne’s birthday, which is one of the three times of year Team Pryor feels the heat to show their captain how much we revere him. And do we feel the heat! (Refer to Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby’s Dilemma: What to Get Wayne for Father’s Day.) Well, in an unusual move for me, I waited until the last second to get birthday cards. I don’t know what I was thinking. I thought I had them, but I didn’t. I think I had seen some a couple of months back, but … Continue reading

National Dog Day: Got $5 Bucks?

I’d heard of Take Your Dog to Work Day but I had not heard of National Dog Day. I came across it on one of the lists I check periodically to find pet and/or animal celebration days to write about. Well, the reason I had never heard about it before is because it’s relatively new. If I lived in California, specifically near Malibu, I might have heard about it sooner. National Dog Day events are taking over Calamigos Ranch in Malibu today with activities like Most Beautiful Male and Female, a “Little Dog” Model Search for dogs 25 pounds and … Continue reading

The Pets Blog Week in Review for Jun 11-17

What a week it was here in the Pets Blog last week. I thought I had troubles trying to find Wayne something from Murphy, Tabby, and Kitty for Father’s Day, but my problems were trivial when compared to what Aimee and Moose had to endure. (Okay, they were trivial anyway, but Aimee’s situation really brought that point home.) If you feel like you missed something, check out the daily recaps below to get caught up. Monday, June 11 Aimee, Moose, and Lally’s move has been anything but smooth. Unfortunately Moose’s bad luck continued last week when he broke free of … Continue reading

Happy Father’s Day to the Pet Dads Out There!

“Papa Wayne” with two of our kids, Murphy and Tabby. You know who you are. Maybe you have human children too. Maybe you don’t. Maybe you’re dad to a dog, a cat, an iguana, or a snake. It doesn’t matter what kind of pet you have, the fact remains that you provide for it, care for it, and love it. And your pets love you too, you Pet Papas out there. Dogs appreciate the walks –or maybe the evening or morning runs if you are an exercise-with-your-dog kind of dad. They appreciate that you mow the grass so they have … Continue reading

Not All Men Sexually Abuse Children

Australia celebrates Father’s Day on the first Sunday in September. That makes it this Sunday. Because the world’s countries celebrate Father’s day on different dates we are provided with multiple opportunities to be reminded of how special Dads are. How wonderful for those Dads that may have dual citizenship. They get to have multiple days where their protection of, and love and concern for, their children are openly celebrated. At a Protective Play Party yesterday, many of the Mums and children were talking about what they had planned as a surprise for Daddy on Sunday. Some other Mums and children … Continue reading
