Do you remember Woodsy Owl? Sometimes I wonder if all the green living info aimed at children today is actually making an impact then I think of good old Woodsy Owl. Woodsy, an icon for the U.S. Forest Service, made his first appearance in the early ‘70s when there was a resurgence of environmental awareness. Typically when a celebrity is honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame people read speeches about how worthy he or she is and local dignitaries ramble on about how the community has prospered thanks to the star’s contributions, yada, yada, yada. And now for the top five movies … Dancing in at the number five spot is Happy Feet (PG), a delightfully amusing cartoon with a great soundtrack. Mambo the Emperor Penguin can’t sing, even though ALL penguins are supposed to sing. But he can tap dance.
