Lost Parrot Talks His Way Home

When I was a little kid, my parents made a game out of teaching me my home address and phone number. We turned it into a little song -- to this day, I could still sing you my address and phone number! I didn't know it at the time, but this is important info for a little kid to know.

For most pets, ID tags do the talking when it comes to name and home address. In fact, wearing tags is the number one way to make sure a lost pet is reunited with its family!

Unless you're Yosuke the parrot! This brave little bird doesn't need tags -- because he knows how to recite his name and home address.

This African grey parrot escaped from his cage and got lost in the city of Nagareyama -- near Tokyo, Japan. Local police rescued the parrot from a rooftop and brought him to the station for a night. He was relocated to a veterinary hospital while the police tried to find the owner.

After a few days at the veterinary hospital, the parrot got chatty. He introduced himself as Mister Yosuke Nakamura and gave out his full home address (street number and all). Yosuke also entertained the staff at the veterinary hospital by singing songs.

The police checked the address the parrot had given and found a Nakamura family there! The family was delighted to be reunited with their vocal pet. In this case, training paid off -- the Nakamura family has been teaching the parrot his name and address for the last two years.

Apparently Yosuke is particular about who he'll open up to. The police officer working on the case said that he tried to be friendly to the African grey parrot -- and even talked to him! But Yosuke kept quiet around the officer.

What a great lost and found story. I saw this story on the news the other day. Isn't that so incredible??? I LOVE that the parrot knew his address!
