Animal Instincts: Love at First Sight Does Exist

The supreme happiness in life is the conviction that we are loved –for ourselves, or rather, in spite of ourselves. ~-Victor Hugo-~ Between Aimee’s article today and a story I was telling my mom about when Tabby came into our lives and how she instantly took a shine to Murph, I got to thinking about love at first site. How it really does exist. I’ve seen it happen! First Greeting: Tongue in the Mouth Aimee recalling the pals in her dogs’ lives that they’ve most loved brought to mind the first time Murph met Tucker, the dog destined to be … Continue reading

Time-Sharing Pets: A New Trend?

Yesterday on our evening walk, Murph and I ran into his gal pals Sophie and Lady. Sophie is a white shepherd/husky mix and Lady is a beagle. (We’ve written about them before in articles such as Murphy’s Fan Club, Tabby’s a One Cat Kind of Dog Lover, and The Fox in the Woods: A Lesson in Rabies.) Last night it was a bit warm. Like mid-70s. Most of the time Sophie’s a high energy dog who loves to run and wrestle with her pals. She gets very mellow, however, when the temps start creeping up past 70. So while she … Continue reading

Surprise Puppy Sitting Duties

Wayne and I had just finished eating dinner last night when I noticed headlights in our driveway that weren’t going away. No sooner had I peeked out the window and commented that someone was parked behind my car than the doorbell started ringing frantically. He dashed into my garage as I was leaving, but I’m going to be late for the Y. Can you please watch him?” “Sure, come on … Continue reading

Shopping for Father’s Day Gifts for Wayne from the Pets

Yesterday I wrote about Murphy, Kitty, and Tabby’s dilemma over what to get Wayne for Father’s Day. Like I mentioned, I sort of already have in mind what I want to get him, but I’d also like to give him a little something especially from the “kids.” The trouble is, that’s hard. At Christmas, I lucked out and found the “Dog Dad” and “Dog Mom” shirts at Personal Creations. I hopped all over that and got him a “Murphy’s Dad” shirt for Christmas. But finding something from the cats and/or Murphy that’s specialized like that? Hard. If he was a … Continue reading
