Three Simple Rules for Anyone Attending a Birth

This post is dedicated to all of the fathers, partners, husbands, and others who will be attending births in the near future. While we, the pregnant women, appreciate your willingness and desire to be present at the births of our children, we do respectfully request that you follow a few ground rules during your participation in this important event. Here are a few suggestions to keep in mind when the time comes. Rule number one. Everything changes once those contractions start coming. It does not matter what I said last month, last week, yesterday, or even this morning. It does … Continue reading

Disney Park Apps for Smartphones

I got a smart phone for my birthday, when all I asked for is an mp3 player. Don’t get me wrong: it’s an awesome present, but sometimes I don’t know what to do with it. I disabled data, because I spend enough time online as it is. Although I downloaded one or two, I’m wary of most apps: I don’t want them cluttering up my phone. If you have smart phone, however, and you’re planning a Disney vacation, there are a few apps you should look into getting. Most of them are free, which is just icing on the cake. … Continue reading

Toddlers Are Awesome

I recently realized that my toddler will not be a toddler much longer. Apparently, the age range during which a child is a toddler is from eighteen months until three years. Dylan will turn three on November 21. At that point, he will belong to the “preschoolers” age group regardless of whether or not he is actually enrolled in preschool at the time. As with anything kid – related, it seems as though passing through the toddler stage did not take as long as I thought that it might. There sure have been a lot of things packed in to … Continue reading

Apples Are Awesome!

I love all four of the seasons that we have here in Vermont, but I must say that if I were pressed to pick a favorite, Fall would be the one that I like best. Now that I have children, I am able to share my love of all things autumn with them. Number one on my to – do list for this fall was apple picking. Last Friday, my dad came to town for a visit. I thought that apple picking would be the perfect way for us all to spend an afternoon together. Unfortunately, none of the apple … Continue reading

Summer Reading Series: An Awesome Book!

Some book title, huh? It takes guts to bestow such a lofty label on your debut work, but there seems to be a method behind Dallas Clayton’s madness. Clayton penned and illustrated the psychedelic children’s picture book about dreaming big, and there’s no doubt he has equally high expectations for its future. At first glance, An Awesome Book! appears to be a sweet bedtime story, which encourages young readers to never stop dreaming, or perhaps, more importantly, never allow anyone to limit their visions. However, as pint-sized bookworms dig deeper into the 64-page explosion of colorful images and whimsical wording, … Continue reading

One More Disney Day Leap Year Extravaganza

It’s every kid’s dream: getting locked into Disney World overnight. While other Disney events have come close, notably Senior Trips/Grad Nites and New Year’s Eve parties, no one’s ever been allowed in a Disney Park in the middle of the night before. Or at least, a park has never been open to guests for a full 24 hours before. But now, both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom will be. One More Disney Day is how the Disney Parks have chosen to honor Leap Year. It’s an event that only comes around every four years, so execs wanted to celebrate it … Continue reading

Awesome Printable Coupons – Week of July 25, 2011

Finding great coupons is not as easy as it might seem. It takes time to find them, and some of them could easily expire before you even have time to discover them. The coupons I like best are the ones that don’t require you to jump through any hoops before you can print them out. Here are a few of the excellent coupons that I found that can be used this week. Uno Chicago Grill has a coupon that will give you one FREE kid’s meal, or gluten-free thin crust pizza, with each adult entree you purchase. You must bring … Continue reading

Google Makes Money From “Insurance”

In a roundabout way, Google is making money off “insurance”. No, they haven’t actually started selling policies. One of the ways that Google generates revenue is through Paid-Search keywords. It turns out that the key word phrases that use the word insurance make the most money for Google. You probably use Google to look up information online. If I had to guess, I would think that Google’s search engine is the one that is used more than any other company’s search engine. People use it so often that the company name has become a verb. “What time does the movie … Continue reading

Adventure to Inspire – Homeschool Blog Review

Over the last month, I’ve had the chance to talk with ToriAnn Perkey, homeschooling mom who runs the blog Adventure to Inspire. As we’ve chatted, we’ve investigated her reasons for choosing homeschool for her family, and today I’d like to talk about the blog itself. I was first introduced to the blog by her husband, Josh. I’m usually a little leery when someone says, “Hey, my wife blogs. Check it out.” But I’ve known and respected Josh for a long time, so I headed on over. What I found was an awesome resource. There are articles sharing thoughts and ideas, … Continue reading
