What a week! We said goodbye to January and hello to February. Here's a breakdown of the hot topics Aimee and myself covered this past week in the Pets Blog.

Monday, January 29

I sat down and talked with Sherlockian Author E.J. Wagner and her Dr. Watson, RL (Resident Labrador). Then it became obvious January wasn't the only thing we were going to bid farewell to last week. In a tender piece recounting his rise to glory and the disease he ultimately could not outrun, Aimee shared how Barbaro's Journey Ended.

Tuesday, January 30

Murphy inspired how to pointers in How to Bathe a Dog That Hates Baths. Aimee's dog Miko just might have been the inspiration that led to her fascinating account of The History of Huskies.

Wednesday, January 31

Aimee examined the royal lineage of one of the breed's that came from Japan in Dog Breed: Akita. She also explained how conservationists from the Santa Monica Mountains Conservancy are seeking A New Life for the Los Angeles River by proposing it be designated a federal wildlife sanctuary.

Thursday, February 1

In Dog Breeds: Norfolk Terrier, Aimee talked about the breed that won Best in Show at the 2003 American Kennel Club/Eukanuba National Championship. Murphy once again was the culprit behind How to Keep Pup Smelling Fresh After the Bath. Kitty felt Murph was getting too much airtime, so he put on the charm and inspired Kitty Quirks: The Funny Little Ways He Says "I Love You."

Friday, February 2

In Six More Weeks of Winter or an Early Spring?: Punxsutawney Phil's 2007 Prediction revealed it's going to be an early spring. Candlemas and Groundhog Day: Folkloric Origins examined how it was animals came to be relied on to forecast whether warmer weather's soon ahead or not. And a holistic approach to treating your pet's aches and pains was offered in Acupuncture for Pets.

Note: Due to technical difficulties, I inadvertently left out a blog in last week's review. Shannon Wakeland blogs about Preparedness, but last week she contributed her knowledge to the Pets Blog in Preparing for a Puppy.
