Today marks the middle of the month. Say what? Didn't it just start? Where the heck is the time going? I have no idea, but if you've been as busy as I have and didn't have time to stay on top of the Pets Blog this week, no worries. Here's the Week in Review that summarizes what Aimee and I wrote about on:

Monday, October 8

In honor of Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, I gave six reasons why you'll never regret adopting a dog. Aimee's been doing a great job with a series of blogs on tropical fish, in particular ones that are good for beginners. Today's installment was about the platy. Tuesday, October 9

I love the names of the specific species and breeds of various things Aimee covers. In this case it's the gold barb, another tropical fish that's good for beginners.

Wednesday, October 10

If you're looking for a peaceful tank dweller that is also hardy and can withstand cooler water temps than others, Aimee suggests checking into white cloud minnows. I get a kick out of all kinds of animals, both wild and domestic, so that's why I took a minute to appreciate squirrels for Squirrel Appreciation Week.

Thursday, October 11

In order to commemorate Squirrel Appreciation Week, I remembered Rudy First, a little baby squirrel who literally fell into my life a few years ago.

Friday, October 12

Did you know fish can get sick? I didn't realize it until I read Aimee's blog about quarantine tanks, which are handy to have if you have more than one fish in your tank. If one gets sick, you can keep the entire population healthy by quarantining the sick one in a "hospital tank" until it gets better.

Saturday, October 13

In case you ever do have to "hospitalize" your fish, Aimee explains how to set up a quarantine tank.

Sunday, October 14

Now that you know fish can get sick, how do you know when they are? Aimee lists some common freshwater fish diseases to watch out for, including symptoms and treatments.
