The Siberian Cat: A Buncha Love!by Marjorie Dorfman | More from this Blogger 28 May 2006 06:10 AM
The Siberian is a semi-longhaired cat, with a rich full coat in the winter that becomes shorter and less dense during the summer months. The tail is very bushy. The coat requires little care, as is the case with many forest cats that do not live anywhere near a hairdresser. Nature provides with fur that does not mat as it does with many other longhair breeds. These cats come in every color of the rainbow, and were accepted in the "Miscellaneous"' class by the Cat Fancier's Association in February of 2000. These large and very beautiful cats are very loyal to their owners and form very strong bonds with them, wanting to be near them always. It is said that one should expect the unexpected if one of these cats live in the home. They are extremely agile and love to jump long distances, making their every day routines somewhat of a circus act to behold. They thrive on love and affection and are very playful and sweet. They are also powerful animals with a muscular mid-section and longer hind legs. Incredibly, these cats are hyper-allergenic, and perfect for the cat lover with allergies. For some strange reason, they lack the FELD protein in their saliva, which creates dander. Do YOU own such a cat? Please share you experiences.
