'Twas the Day Before Christmas...

'Twas the day before Christmas

And there was excitement galore.

The stockings were hung

And presents were piled on the floor.

Garland graced the stairs

And ornaments adorned the tree

Just begging to be batted

By Mr. Meow and Tabby.

But good they were being

Because if they were not

The man named St. Nick

Would leave them to rot.

Stayed away from temptation

Did Murph and the cats

And steer clear they made sure

Of tantrums and spats.

For they knew the man who bore gifts

Kept lists of the naughty and nice

And desperate were they to prove

They were as sweet as sugar and spice.

So they played the whole day

To be sure they'd sleep the night through.

Because to be awake when Santa came

Would land them in a heap of do-do!

Merry Christmas!

It's almost here and I know Murphy, Mr. Meow and Tabby can sense the growing excitement. Since it's Tabby's first Christmas she's not sure what to make of everything. She just knows there's some new accouterments throughout the house to play with and she's been making the best of that! (Except presents which I wisely put out of reach of her Shredinator clutches.)

Mr. Meow's the Christmas veteran of the group. He was a menace with all the Christmas decorations the first year we had him. He even semi-shocked himself after he decided to chew through a strand of Christmas lights. (He was fine, just got a nice little zap.) But now he's more reserved about the whole thing. He waits patiently until Christmas morning to be given his gifts.

Murph probably gets to participate the most. Along with the cats he assists me putting up inside decorations, but he also helps with outside ones too. And he helped Wayne and I deliver gifts to neighbors, as well as entertain his puppy visitors who brought him gifts.

But tomorrow's the main event. They'll all get new presents and special treats and we'll spend the morning together as a family.

Whether you exchange gifts tonight or tomorrow, I hope you enjoy the Merriest of Christmases with your loved ones --the four-legged as well as the two!
