“The Good Wife’s Guide”

Back at the start of February my friend Christy (of saved the puppy fame) forwarded an email entitled “The Care and Feeding of a Husband.” It was one I had seen before, and one which has become both laughable and notorious. Why? Well, in case you haven’t seen it, the article’s title is “The Good Wife’s Guide” and it suggests several specific ways to be a good wife. Below are a few of them: • Have dinner ready. Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal ready, on time for his return. This is a way of … Continue reading

The DIY Water Cat

Ever since I started incorporating viral animal emails into my blogs, my sister’s always on the lookout for ones that’ll especially tickle me. She hit the nail on the head today with a forward she sent me entitled “Water Leak.” Her message preceding the “story” was: “I DON’T want to give them any ideas, but…” Then the forwarded part of the joke followed: Jennifer and Jim kept getting huge water bills, they knew beyond a doubt that the bills weren’t representative of their actual usage, and no matter how much they tried to conserve the high bills continued. Although they … Continue reading

More Viral Animal Emails: Breathtaking

My inbox benefited from the addition of a few more of what I call “viral animal emails” that have caught my attention again. (The others I’ve written about are listed below under “Related Articles.”) These took my breath away. It’s amazing what people sometimes capture with cameras. The Bear on Rainbow Bridge – September 2007 When I first saw this one and read the description of the bear on Rainbow Bridge the first thing that came to my mind was the Rainbow Bridge often referred to when pets pass. It wasn’t the same bridge. This one had a description with … Continue reading

More Viral Animal Emails: Doggone Hysterical

Previously I wrote about viral emails I’m guilty of spreading and ones that have tugged at my heart. Well, here’s some that I’ve found just doggone hysterical. Off the Mark Cartoons My neighbor Marlene forwarded an email with “From a dog’s point of view” in the subject line. It contained a bunch of Off the Mark cartoons by Mark Parisi. These were cartoons I’d never seen before and had me in stitches because I thought they were incredibly clever. My favorites were: • “Aromatherapy Candles” – a dog’s standing in front of a rack of dog rear end candles, with … Continue reading

More Viral Animal Emails: Heart Tuggers

Back in August I wrote about a certain type of email we all get: the forwards. You know what I’m talking about –the jokes and anecdotes that assure you they’re the funniest thing and you just have to read them. I probably delete 95% (if not more) of these without passing them on and making them even more “viral.” But some I just can’t resist sharing. Like now. Here’s some that tugged at my heart so much I not only forwarded them but felt the need to write about them. The Hippo and the Tortoise Remember the tsunami of 2004 … Continue reading

What Do You Get When You Cross a…

…horse with a zebra? Or a lion with a tiger? Would you believe new animals? (Nope, I’m not kidding!) A Horse is a Horse, Of Course, Of Course, Unless It Is a…Zorse? I can’t remember where it was I first saw the image of the zorse. I believe someone sent me an email with a picture of one. My first reaction was, “No way!” But, yep, there before my very eyes was a horse with stripes…also known as a zorse. I had to find out more, and here’s what I came across at a place called the Spots ‘N Stripes … Continue reading

The Pets Blog Week in Review for Aug 27-Sep 2

Happy Labor Day! I hope you have the kind of job where you’ve enjoyed the day off and maybe even a nice three-day weekend. In case you’re trying to spend what’s left of today catching up on blogs, here’s your breakdown of what Aimee and myself covered last week in the Pets Blog. Monday, August 27 Does your pet like to run errands with you? Murph does, because I know where to take him to get drive-thru donuts and coffee for dogs to reward him for helping me. Tuesday, August 28 If you’ve been following the Michael Vick case, then … Continue reading

Shelfari: Where Book Lovers Meet

Earlier this week a very talented lady befriended me in a very unique way. Trevy McDonald sent me an email with the subject title “Do we like the same books?” It was an invitation to be one of her Shelfari Friends. In fact, she invited me twice because I didn’t answer the first request. In my defense, I had heard of neither Trevy McDonald nor Shelfari. Just the other day I wrote about how many jokes inundate my inbox on a daily basis. Well, so does spam. Unfortunately that’s what I thought Trevy’s email was at fist. That’s why I … Continue reading

Viral Emails: Have You Seen the One About…?

Photo by Simon Stratford How many jokes, surveys, video attachments, and other miscellaneous “fun” stuff do you get in your inbox on a weekly (or maybe even daily) basis? I get tons. Most of it I automatically delete, but some I don’t. In fact, sometimes I even forward them, thus helping to make them “viral.” (In other words, the kind of email that spreads from inbox to inbox.) Here’s a few I’m guilty of spreading: Cute: Big Dog, Little Baby A little while back, Bailey’s “PopPop” forwarded me a picture of a huge black dog laying in a yard on … Continue reading
