I don't know what's up with my crazy cat, but he's acting really weird lately. So much so I'm kind of worried about him. It's not his physical health that's causing me concern. He's eating fine, using the litter box as usual, playing, and being very loving. That's what's worrying me -those last two things. The playing and the lovingness. Normally most people's impression of Mr. Meow is that he's kind of a creepy cat. Even Wayne's intimidated by him and refers to him as his nemesis because he feels Mr. Meow's always plotting against him. (Sometimes it just so happens he is and Wayne's suspicions are justified!) I see Meowy's ornery side, but I also know another side of him. The loving, snuggly, tender side. He doesn't let it shine through very often or for very long. At least not normally. But lately he's been a little love nugget. He spends the night curled up beside me, is back to making biscuits on the back of my head, or wants to play with one of his many toys any chance he gets. He's kind of acting like a kitten again. Which is spooky in itself, but it's even spookier because he used to just show these sides to me. No more. He hunts Tabby down and tries to provoke her, his once sworn arch enemy, to play with him all the time lately, but the weirdest one was what he did to Wayne the other day. Mr. Meow has this way of "holding" me. He slings his back legs over my arm at night and clings on. For the past eight years he's only ever done it to me, but the other night Wayne got the benefit of a Meowy hug. It moved him to tears. (He's always thought it looks cute, but to actually feel it is another thing. It's even more special than it looks.) So I'm not quite sure what's going on. We've been gone a lot recently and had to leave him in the care of a neighbor. Maybe the real Meow was kidnapped by cat snatchers and an imposter was put in his place. Either that or, because we were gone so much, he came to realize just how much he loves us and decided to show it. Nah. I think the imposter scenario is more plausible.
